uniquely singapore - day 3

Day 3

my cousin, annie, and her husband came to pick us up on wednesday, the first day of raya.

they drove along the coastal way.

seas, seas, seas~

and the expressway was very beautiful.

the trees were shady, and the drive was pleasant.

annie said this expressway was kept that way because
thats the first route all tourists will use
after leaving the airport.

they want to give a first and lasting impression that
singapore is indeed a beautiful city.

our first stop was East Coast Park.

food village
a makan area.

there were dedicated walk and bicycle paths.
so thoughtful.

the first thing i spotted was this sandcastle.
its TOO huge to be missed!

and of coz, a family pic not to be missed.

we walked further down and i spotted this.

this is where people can learn and practise water skating.

that's a humongous lake with an impressive machine they have there.

on the way to our next destination, we passed by the ERP.

Everyday.Rob.People.

like the one we saw in Money No Enough II.

we used the road they closed for the recent F1.

grand stand.

singapore flyer
we also passed by this,
similar to our eye on malaysia.

a big christmas tree by the road side.

we parked at UOB Plaza, at Raffles Place, located just beside Singapore River.

UOB Plaza
the mouth of the building,
which leads out to the river.

very beautiful.

this site used to be the loading and unloading bay for goods back then.

there were steps leading down to the river,
just like the one in Ganges River, India.

the sight was beautiful.

so serene.

boat quay.

there were some very interesting sculptures along the river.

this is the bronze bird by fernando botero.
he is famous for rounded sculptures.

this is a historic one.

malay, chinese, english men.

little kids
this has to be the cutest.

so cute rite?
all jumping into the river.

we walked across the oldest bridge,
the Cavenagh Bridge,
to the Asian Civilisation Museum.

entrance was surprisingly free that day,
because in kl,
we'd probably have to pay more than usual on public holidays.

i was never interested in history, whether as a subject, tv programme, etc. even worse, reading and learning about history in THE museum, but acm really got my attention.
this is probably because i never knew and was never bothered to learn more.
its like, hey! i'll never know if i dont try rite?

this was how the slaves lived last time.

they also had this interactive machine
where the girl will explain everything to you.
real people leh, but pre-recorded one la.

but when they are sick, they put this up...

hehe~

on the other hand, there were 2 gigantic creatures which freaked the shi* outta me.
i was thinking of taking a pic to freak u guys out oso, but i was afraid i might freak myself out again when i look back at the pic.

SO SCARY~

on the whole, i wouldnt say we 'wasted', but we spent about an hour at the museum.
oh my~ thats amazing! its an ACHIEVEMENT! *clap! clap! bravo!!*

we took the underpath where it led to Esplanade Mall, the huge durian-like building.

so thoughtful right?
good for pedestrians.

being the first day of raya,
there were alot of people crowding the whole area.

it was like a carnival day or something.
people were picnicking everywhere at every spot!
the atmosphere was memang very 'lau juak',
and everybody was happy.

singapore is a happy place.

after lunch, we walked around.
esplanade mall is similar to our Bangsar Shopping Complex.
it has a place like Actors Studio which holds all those mini life dramas and acts, at the same time, is a shopping complex altogether.

esplanade, from afar.
see the amount of people.

seriously, just look at the amount of people.

esplanade, upclose.
like durian or not?

later on, we headed to the most anticipated moment of the day...

The Merlion at Marina Bay.

seriously damn syiok wey~

i took damn alot of photos on the way there with the merlion in the background. what more when i reached right in front of her rite?

this is one pic of my parents, annie and her hubby,
with the merlion.

donno why i was so fascinated.

from there, we took another underpath which led to Fullerton Hotel.

the magnificent 5-star hotel,
previously the former General Post Office building.

we headed back to White Sands Shopping Center, back in Pasir Ris, to get some food for tea at another relative's place.

went back home for a while, and we headed to singapore's most famous shopping arcade, Orchard Road.

this whole stretch is orchard road.

so grand~

LV

chanel

who could resist anything there?
if there is one thing which stops people from buying all those brands, its because they dont have the means. like me.

while walking around, i was shocked to see this!

people queueing up to go into LV.
???

i regretted not queueing up.
who knows, maybe there were discounts up to 95%?

anyway, too late.

we crossed under to Tang's, where i fell in love with Daniel Yam dresses and pretty shoes.

the bargain was so good, where we went home with our hands full of bags, and pockets half empty, sadly.

that's it, day 3.

to be continued...
